Who
We Are
A student-run Formula SAE team committed to engineering excellence, fierce competition, and developing the next generation of automotive engineers.
Hawkeye Formula Racing
We are a student-run organization at the University of Iowa that designs, builds, and races a formula-style open-wheel race car every season. Our members gain invaluable experience across mechanical design, electrical systems, manufacturing, project management, and business operations.
What is Formula SAE?
Formula SAE is an international collegiate engineering competition organized by SAE International. Student teams design and fabricate small formula-style race cars, evaluated across a series of static and dynamic events. It challenges students to apply classroom knowledge to real-world engineering problems under competitive pressure.
Our Values
We believe in learning by doing. Every bolt tightened, every weld laid, and every line of code written is an opportunity to grow. We hold ourselves to high standards of safety, quality, and sportsmanship — both in the shop and on the track.
